Mr. Digital Photo Lab opened its doors in 1993, a few blocks from Jane and Finch — and has been part of this neighbourhood's biggest moments ever since.
Thirty years, one neighbourhood
Founded near Jane and Finch by an owner with a genuine passion for photography — starting with passport photos and film developing, back when nearly every photo still needed a print.
As more families came to rely on the shop, it moved into a larger space right next door — room for a proper studio, a wider frame selection, and faster service, without leaving the block that made it a neighbourhood fixture.
Some of the families who came in for a passport photo in the 1990s now bring their grandchildren in for the same. That kind of trust doesn't come from an ad — it comes from getting it right, year after year.
A high school teacher came in for a single passport photo, then returned with his whole family for a portrait. Years later, that same family still drives in from Brantford for every photo occasion — including their newborn grandchild's first birthday portrait.
One young girl's very first portrait was taken here. Years later, so was her wedding — and more recently, her own first child's newborn photos. Three milestones, one shop, a couple of decades apart.
